Dear Northend Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I hope you and your family have enjoyed a wonderful summer filled with time to relax, recharge, and make lasting memories.

Our staff has been busy preparing for another incredible year, and we are excited to welcome both returning and new students to Northend Elementary. At Northend, we believe that strong relationships are the foundation of student success. Together with our families, we are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where every child is challenged to grow academically while feeling valued, respected, and encouraged each day. We are looking forward to another year of learning, laughter, and celebrating the accomplishments of our students.

This year, we will continue to encourage our students to SOAR by being:

• Safe
• On Task
• Accountable
• Respectful

These expectations help us build a positive school community where every student feels welcome, takes responsibility for their actions, and is prepared to learn each day.

As we prepare for the first day of school, we encourage all families to log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal to view your child's classroom teacher assignment and verify that your contact information and emergency contacts are accurate. Keeping this information up to date ensures that you receive important school communications throughout the year.

The first day of school is Monday, August 31, 2026. School begins promptly at 8:45 a.m., and we ask that students arrive on time and ready to learn each day. On the first day, families are invited to gather on the playground, where our staff will welcome students and teachers will meet their classes before heading into the building together. At the end of the school day, students who are parent pick-ups will be dismissed from the playground at 3:30 p.m. Please remember that Northend Elementary follows the New Britain Public Schools uniform policy, and students are expected to wear the approved school uniform each day.

Thank you for your continued partnership and for entrusting us with your child's education. We know that when schools and families work together, students thrive. Our entire Northend team is excited to welcome you back and begin another wonderful year of learning, growth, and success.

Enjoy the remainder of your summer, and we look forward to seeing you on Monday, August 31!

Warmly,

Samantha Karoll
Principal
